Katy Hanson – Managing Director
Katy qualified as a Solicitor in 2003 and is a highly experienced advocate both in Criminal and Family Law Proceedings. Prior to joining Welch & Co in 2008 Katy worked in London & Cardiff before returning to West Wales with her family, initially being based in South Pembrokeshire.
Katy has a wealth of knowledge in all areas of criminal law and has successfully represented clients charged with offences ranging from multi-handed drug conspiracies, robbery, child neglect, serious assaults and sexual offences as well as summary only offences such as criminal damage and public order matters. She is an experienced advocate and regularly appears before magistrates courts in Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire.
Police station accredited, Katy is able to deal with all aspects of your case from point of arrest to trial. Katy is a member of the criminal litigation panel and a duty Solicitor both on the Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion schemes. Katy is also the committee member for West Wales for the Criminal Law Solicitors Association (CLSA), the National representative body for Criminal Solicitors.
Fraud & Financial Crime
Katy has extensive experience representing individuals in relation to matters of Fraud and Financial Crime. Katy trained in a large City firm specialising in Criminal Financial Matters, and has achieved positive outcomes for a vast number of clients accused of Fraud and related offences throughout her legal career. As such, Welch & Co. are very well placed to assist and represent you in dealing with any such allegations brought.
Katy has experience in all areas of matrimonial and family law. A member of Resolution, Katy is committed to dealing with cases, sympathetically, pragmatically and professionally. In addition Katy has experience in local authority care proceedings and regularly represents parents and grandparents involved in those proceedings. Katy regularly appears before the family proceedings court and county courts in Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire.

Katy is a supervisor within the Welch & Co. Conveyancing Department, taking an active role within the department as well as being the head of Wills & Probate within the firm

Rachel Tarbutt – Director
Rachel heads up Welch & Co’s Property Law Team, having extensive experience in both Residential Conveyancing and Commercial Conveyancing.
Rachel graduated from Lancaster University with a degree in Law in 2000 before joining the conveyancing department of Shoosmiths Solicitors in 2001. Rachel qualified as a Licensed Conveyancer in 2010. In 2011 Rachel left her position as a senior conveyancer with Shoosmiths to return to her native West Wales, working initially in private practice then Ceredigion County Council for 5 years, until joining Welch and Co. Solicitors in March 2017.
Rachel is also experienced with Commercial Landlord & Tenant Matters, Agricultural Tenancies, Major Project Work, Compulsory Purchase Orders, and Section 106 & 38 Agreements.
Rachel hails from the Cardigan area and is a fluent Welsh Speaker

Anita Crewdson, Family Law
Anita qualified as a solicitor in 1994 and specialises in Family Law.
She trained as a solicitor in Cambridgeshire where she continued to work until relocating to Cornwall.
In 2014 she moved to the West Midlands. She was delighted to join Welch & Co in January 2018 when she returned to her native West Wales.
Anita grew up in Lampeter and is a Welsh Speaker.
She has a wealth of experience as a Family Law Solicitor and is committed to providing professional, pragmatic legal advice and assistance to her clients whilst making every effort to be understanding, sensitive and approachable at what can often be a difficult and traumatic experience for clients.
Anita is accredited by the Law Society as a Family Law specialist. The wealth of experience that she has gained over the last 25 years means that she is ideally placed to represent you in all aspects of Family Law

Stephen qualified as a Solicitor in 1979 and has a mixed caseload of criminal law litigation and conveyancing, probate and administration of estates.
Stephen is an experienced and tenacious advocate who is able to provide court representation across the whole range of criminal law. Whilst he enjoys court work and practicing criminal law Stephen finds he can happily combine that work with his practice and expertise in both private and commercial conveyancing, will drafting and the administration of estates.
Lauren studied for her Law Degree and Legal Practice Course at Aberystwyth University, working initially in Llandysul, before joining Welch & Co in 2016, becoming a Director in 2019.
Lauren works across our Criminal, Family and Conveyancing /Property departments, but also has extensive experience in Private Client Matters, Employment Law and HR. Lauren is a committee member of the West Wales Law Society and is a fluent Welsh Speaker.

Samantha rejoined Welch & Co as a Paralegal in 2017, before being awarded her training contract in May 2018, working across the Conveyancing and Wills & Probate departments. Sam previously worked with Welch & Co. in 2013 during her Legal Practice Course studies in Swansea University, which she passed with distinction.
Samantha has extensive experience in Property Law, Wills & Probate and Family Law. Samantha was born and raised in North Pembrokeshire and is a fluent welsh speaker.

Christina Jones, Paralegal
Christina joined Welch & Co in 1989 and has worked as secretary/PA to Director Stephen Welch, through to April 2017. Christina has extensive experience in Conveyancing and has assisted all other legal departments during her time at Welch & Co. Now working as a Paralegal within the Conveyancing team, Christina is a native of Llechryd and is happy to conduct business in the Welsh or English language alike.
Danielle Busby – Associate Solicitor
Dani studied for her Law Degree and LPC in Swansea School of Law, being admitted to the role in 2011. Dani joined Welch & Co in 2018, having previously worked with our Katy Hanson in South Pembrokeshire.
Dani heads up the Welch & Co Conveyancing Department, and is a highly experienced Family Lawyer, with special expertise in Child and Care matters.
Sarah Hickinbotham – Associate Solicitor
Sarah is a highly experienced Family Solicitor, having been admitted to the role in 1994. Working across the South West, Sarah has a wealth of experience in all aspects of Family Law, both private and publicly funded. Sarah heads up the Welch & Co Family Law department as well as being accredited as a Family Law Specialist by the Law Society, and is a member of resolution.
Daniel Worth – Practice Manager
Daniel is graduate of Oxford School of Architecture, and spent the early part of his career working in London as a Project Management Consultant, initially within the banking sector, then latterly in South Wales responsible for the delivery of significant Capital schemes for NHS Trusts, Local Health Boards and local authorities. As well as the day to day management of the firm, Daniel is responsible for the Quality Management Systems within the business and also assists with Administration of Estates and Property matters.
Abigail Taylor – Administrator
Abi works predominantly within the Family Law Department, supporting the Family Law team. Working closely with our Lawyers on files, she is often available to speak with and assist clients in the event of Lawyers being unavailable.
Rebecca Nicholas – Administrator /Paralegal
Rebecca is a graduate of Aberystwyth Law School with a degree in Criminology and Psychology. Rebecca works predominantly within the Criminal Law Department as an Administrator, whilst training as a Paralegal to directly support our Directors Katy Hanson & Lauren Bayley. Rebecca is fluent in both Welsh & English.
Chiara Jones – Administrator
Chiara divides her time between general Administration, supporting our Fee Earners, and the Accounts Department where she acts as assistant Accounts Clerk.
